Topic -   IT Management Track – Driving confident decisions with Ops Intel

State and local government agencies are tasked with multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities. They need to innovate to satisfy citizen demands, control costs and be more efficient – all this while ensuring they follow the mandates and directives to keep data secure and protect against cyber threats. But budget constraints and resource shortages are demanding they do more with less.

What if agencies had an approach to proactively detect and protect against cyber threats? What if they could use the same approach across agencies to address other challenges saving time and money while driving efficiencies and citizen satisfaction?

Data analytics was an enigma for many years teasing organizations with the promise of unprecedented benefits yet posing complexities to unlock them.  While agency leaders found success in pockets of implementation, the lack of appropriate skills combined with the precision required to derive any value made it too prohibitive an endeavor for agency wide adoption.  Lately, the advent of big data technologies are showing promise beyond their predecessors. In particular, analyzing machine data, which offers definitive records of all activities and transactions that touch an agency, can offer powerful, real-time insights to drive confident decisions.  They can be extended to a myriad of use cases from security to IT operations to application delivery. In this session, Ashok Sankar, Director of Solutions Strategy for Public Sector at Splunk, will discuss real world examples of how local and state organizations have tapped into the power machine data analytics to ensure resilient operations, collaborate better across teams and departments to meet growing citizen needs and evolving community priorities without extending their budgets.
